WRFL Coach of the Month

We are pleased share the announcement that AFL Victoria, the Western Region Football League and the Western Region – Australian Football Coaches Association (Western AFCA) are offering everyone the chance to recognise the effort of coaches with the AFL Victoria WRFL “Coach of the Month” Award, and in 2018 they will be awarding Monthly winners for each Age bracket (Junior, Youth and Senior).

The purpose of the awards is to recognise the significant contribution of coaches to the conduct and development of Australian Rules Football in Victoria and in particular the Western Metropolitan Region.

In brief:

  • Monthly nominations will be called for the months of May, June, July and August.

  • Anyone, including club officials, players, and parent, can place a nomination for a coach, however nominations will be ratified by a relevant club official prior to the winner being announced.

  • Monthly winners will be announced for each Age Bracket (Junior: 8 – 12; Youth: 12 – 18 and Senior: U19 +).

  • Each Age Bracket winner will be the recipient of the AFL Victoria/WRFL Coach of the Month Award, and will receive a $50.00 AFL Store Voucher.

  • Monthly winners will be decided at the discretion of AFL Victoria Football Development Managers.

  • Each monthly winner will then be eligible for the Western Coach of the Year Award, conducted by Western AFCA to be announced at the WRFL Junior and Senior Presentation Nights.

See below for further details on how to nominate if you feel your child's coach is rockin' the 2018 season!

No footy, for some...

Pre-game Snack Attack!

This week's snack is soooo difficult to make...

Fresh Fruit.

WHAT??!

Yep! A great energy boost pre-game doesn't need to be difficult for a parent or carer. How good does a fresh bowl of fruit salad look? Throw a dollop of vanilla yogurt and a drizzle of honey... YUM! Consider making fruit kebabs for those little Vikings that need an extra push.

Loaded with vitamin C, antioxidants, and fiber, fruit is great for times when you need a little energy boost. It's got vitamins, minerals, and good carbs, which give you quick energy. Choose any fruit you like — bananas, apples, and oranges are easy to tote along with you since they don't need refrigeration. Berries, while not as portable, are also a great option, and are considered lower sugar fruits.
