Altona Football Club was established in 1918 in a Pier Street café by James Duke, Dick Blomberg and a number of other business people from Altona.

In 1965, the Club expanded to include Juniors, who then in 1991 transitioned to their own entity as the Altona Junior Football Club. Both clubs are still very closely aligned as one large ‘Vikings’ family, continuing to share the same Purple & Gold colours and theme song.

MOST IMPROVED TEAM

Congratulations to our U12 Girls on being awarded the Most Improved Team for season 2025. We have given this team a wrap a few times already so is no doubt a very clear winner!

Our inaugural U12 girls team, led by Coach Matt and Assistant Paige, had approx half never having played footy before. Not only did they make finals, they did so in Division 1 AND made it to the prelim! An amazing effort - their future is bright 💜💛

A huge congratulations to Klara Dragovic from our U14 Girls, on being recognised as our most outstanding performance by a female player (Murphy-Bourke honour award).

Klara was not only an award winner in her team this year, but also represented our club at WFNL Interleague. It doesn’t stop there though, Klara had such an awesome tournament that she was also awarded Best On Ground during that too.

We are proud to call you ‘ours’ here at the AJFC Klara and look forward to seeing your name in lights on the AFLW stage in future 💜💛

Congratulations to Caitlin Siddons on being named our Best Junior Club Person for 2025! Caitlin has helped out over multiple seasons with Auskick and this year, was a fantastic assistance to our inaugural U12 Girls team at many training sessions throughout the season. This is on top of her commitment as a player in our U16 Girls.

Today we honored someone whose contribution to the AJFC has been nothing short of extraordinary.
For the past 7 years Narelle has been the engine behind the scenes, starting with socials, then stepping up as Club Administrator whilst being a team manager or trainer and an all round problem solver. From council and league liaison to game day duties, she’s handled it all with passion, precision and a touch of flair.
Her dedication has helped shape the club we know today. Sadly, she is stepping down from the committee - she will be hard to replace and will be missed.

A huge congrats and thank you to Jason Dalby, on being recognised for 10 years service to the AJFC Committee. Jason has poured many hours in to our club across various roles, including Coach Coordinator and then Apparel Officer. He spent many a Sunday morning helping with set up, to sitting through late monthly meetings, to helping at pack up when Alex hit U16’s and the last game of the day.

Jason you have been fantastic and your effort hasn’t gone unnoticed. We appreciate you 🫶🏻

Our first cup of the day goes to our mighty U12 Gold boys on a thriller win against Spotswood!

At half time we were goalless in a very tough defensive game, the hardest our boys have had all year. In true Vikings spirit, they came out resettled and focused in the second half to get in front and stay that way. Could not be prouder of this group of young men who kept their cool to bring home the 🏆
