AltonA Junior Football Club

We are the Vikings!

EST. 1918

Altona Football Club was established in 1918 in a Pier Street cafรฉ by James Duke, Dick Blomberg and a number of other business people from Altona.

In 1965, the Club expanded to include Juniors, who then in 1991 transitioned to their own entity as the Altona Junior Football Club. Both clubs are still very closely aligned as one large โ€˜Vikingsโ€™ family, continuing to share the same Purple & Gold colours and theme song.

BEHIND GOAL NETTINGIn long awaited and exciting news, works are finally starting on our 'behind goal netting' project. Taking advantage of the footy free long weekend, safety fencing will go up by the end of this week around the goals on JK Grant (oval 1) carpark end. Under no circumstances should anyone enter the closed off area during the construction phase, this is a safety risk so please ensure your curious kids stay away from the digging and exposed holes.BACK STORYThis project is extremely expensive ($60K+). Thanks to many of our members who have helped contribute towards our significant fundraising efforts of recent seasons, plus $12,500 the AltonaFC received from a Telstra Footy Grant, we were finally moving forward! It was however then delayed due to Hobsons Bay City Council's inadequate communication regarding project requirements, which has since blown the budget by a further $17k. As you would all appreciate, we are local not-for-profit, community and volunteer run clubs - this was a huge extra cost to accept, but given we had already spent a significant amount on the pre project work, we had to push forward for the safety of our players and community. It's important to note that despite these being Council owned and run facilities, they have not provided any financial assistance at all for this project. The full amount and management of this installation is being managed by your local football clubs - Altona Junior Football Club & AltonaFC #vikingstrong ๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ’› ... See MoreSee Less
